FULPMES - HOTELS & TOURIST INFORMATION
|
Fulpmes setting among the beautiful mountains of the Stubai Alps have made the town the ideal hiking and mountain biking base and a true summer sports paradise.
Fulpmes is situated at 1000 meters elevation and has around 3600 inhabitants, with Ski-In/Ski-Out. Impressive high mountains surround this major resort, which lies about halfway up the valley, and is the most ancient hamlet in the Stubai Valley – there is a document from 1344, referring to a village here. Serles Mountain, to the south of Fulpmes, rises to a height as high as 2,715 meters. One might enjoy an excursion up to Telfes, a bit more than 1.5 kilometers by road above Fulpmes.
Most of the visitors see the Stubaital on day trips from Innsbruck, however the resort, which is a great spot to visit in both summer and winter, offers a variety of excellent hotels charging moderate prices. During the summer, an indoor, heated swimming pool between Fulpmes and Telfes is open for guests. Chairlifts operate in both summer and winter, one going from Fulpmes to Froneben, at 1351meters and one to Kreuzjoch, at 2105 meters.
If here at the right time, one might enjoy a historical play presented about Tyrol’s hero, Andreas Hofer, who led Bavarian and Tyrolean peasants against Napoleon and freed Tirol from the French domination.
Fulpmes is the final destination on the well-known tram - Stubaitalbahn, which departs from Innsbruck's railway station around fifteen times a day. The trip, with many stops at small panoramic villages en route, takes about an hour. In addition, buses depart from Innsbruck's Hauptbahnhof at intervals of 60 to 90 minutes throughout the day (trip takes about 35 minutes).
