Holzgau lies in the Austrian Alps, about fifty kilometers from the German frontier. The lovely village of Holgau, situated on the major road through this picturesque area is a hub of typical Austrian mountain life. It offers some great restaurants, small cosy bars, and is only on about half hour ski bus ride from the popular resorts of Lech ,Warth, Jageralpe and Salobar. In between of the Tyrolean Lech Valley, stretching from Forchach to Steeg is a landscaped area, unique in Central Europe and great for holidays. In the Lech Valley and its side valley districts one will find a real hospitality and will be able to enjoy some relaxing hours away from the mass tourism.
 
Holzgau Skiiing Holidays
There is a local ski lift within Holzgau, a beginners run and one blue slope and one red slope, which are great to warm up before moving out to other skiing areas within the Lech valley.
Using the Lechtal ski-bus, which is free and runs at regular intervals throughout the day, or by car, one can reach within 25-30 minutes the main ski resorts around Holzgau – Bach, Salober, Warth, Schröcken and Jageralpe. The facilities at all resorts are excellent, offering ski lifts, many good restaurants, ski school and of course over 350 kilometers of groomed ski runs, varying from black slopes to nursery runs! Additionally lift pass bought locally covers most of the resorts (check when getting it from any local hotel or at the lifts).
Summer vacations in Holzgau and the Lechtal Valley
Plenty of lovely walks and clearly marked hiking trails are available throughout the Lechtal valley, most of which within short walking distance, driving or bus trip from Holzgau.
With its unspoiled flood plains, the Lechtal National Park is one of the last natural landscapes in central Europe. Other Summer Highlights in this region include nearly 50 lodges, about 250 kilometers of cycling and mountain bike paths three swimming pools, six picturesque mountain railways and further activities such as rafting, paragliding, wildlife watching tours, etc.

The nearest Airports include Friedrichshafen Airport (FDH) – 150 kilometers(daily), Innsbruck Airport (INN) – 185 km(4 times per week), Munchen Airport (MUC) – 254 km(daily), Zurich Airport (ZRH) – 182 km(daily). Taxi, car hire and Bus transfers to and from most airports are available.
The already mentioned Lechtal Valley Skibus goes through Holzgau daily at frequently and regular intervals, allowing free and easy access to numerous adjacent ski resorts.
